Well. It started out with good intentions. Fifteen THOUSAND views later and we realized we had bitten off more than we could chew LOL
We are OVERWHELMED (in a good way!) with the response. However, we’re running into to two main issues:
- People primarily just want the trees off their property at no charge. They want the trees to be used rather than wasted or left to rot.
- People are misunderstanding the nature of our business, what we’re offering to do for free and what we’re CAPABLE of doing with our limited equipment, manpower etc.
- This post is meant to clarify what we can and can not do in terms of helping with free milling for viable storm damaged trees.
Yes. We offered free milling to ellenboro NC residents
As Ellenboro residents that were out with chainsaws clearing the roads and helping move debris, we know first hand how many wonderful trees fell during this storm. We know it is like that throughout our county. We would LOVE to be able to offer this to everyone, but financially we can’t. We have payroll and business expenses and are scheduling volunteer work around our paid jobs. We could legit spend two solid months doing nothing but free milling due to the sheer number of messages we’ve gotten. Please understand that as a small company, we can’t afford to do that. So, our offer is valid for Ellenboro residents only. We are happy to provide non-Ellenboro residents a quote if you are interested in having your trees milled. Even if you want to donate the lumber to Helene relief (as some are doing). If you would like a quote, please contact us.
No. We do not cut standing timbers for free.
Yes, we have equipment to clear small lots, selective cut trees and haul debris. That said, our offer to mill trees was limited to trees that were already on the ground and cut into logs. We do not have a bucket truck, chipper or the manpower that a dedicated tree service has. It’s an expensive business and we can not offer those services for free, just the milling.
If you are in Ellenboro and you can have an organization or company fell your trees and cut them into logs, we are happy to mill them into lumber. The lumber will stay on your property and you can use it or give it away. We can not take the lumber with us because we do not have a log yard to store it in.
Yes. we are accepting donations to offset costs for others
We have had people who want to pay us to mill their trees but want to donate the lumber OR they don’t need our services but want to contribute so that we can afford to do this. If you are interested in this, please either submit or contact info or follow the links below to donate. We and the people we serve are grateful for your support!

YES. We are looking to partner with other service pros
There is an overwhelming need for tree services and debris removal in our area. There are tons of service organizations doing that type of work for free. You can find them on our Helen Resources page.
However, we are also getting calls from people who want to pay to have a large amount of trees taken down or cleaned up. We are not equipped to do this. We ARE making a list of providers who would like us to refer customers to them. If you would like to be listed on our resources page, please submit your info below and we will be in touch!
